About
Bird feathers that appear blue do not do so because of pigment. Their structural color exists virtually and is activated (through interference) when white light hits the feathers. As we present works from the past, present, and future of three cities—Los Angeles, Berlin, and Mexico City—"There is No Such Thing as a Blue Bird" brings together artists whose works explore the field of tension between nature and technology, dealing with hope and the elusive blue bird.
SOMA ART BERLIN
SOMA is an independent contemporary art space in Berlin, founded in 2014 by journalist Nabi Nara.
Dedicated to fostering collaborations among cultural professionals, artists, academics, and activists worldwide, SOMA focuses on art practices and topics often overlooked, including stories of women, diverse voices, and global periphery issues. Operating in the multicultural Kreuzberg neighborhood, SOMA presents artworks connected to fundamental questions about humanity. SOMA Art Berlin is dedicated to establishing a resilient network that seamlessly connects visionaries and practitioners deeply engaged in the intersection of art, technology, and science.
Through our initiative platform and curated physical events, we strategically foster networking and communication, cultivating a robust sense of community and collaboration. Emphasizing continuous improvement, we institute robust feedback mechanisms, actively seeking community input to refine both our collective intelligence platform and collaborative experiences. Our vibrant community prioritizes transparency in knowledge sharing, creating a culture of openness where insights flow seamlessly. This commitment to continuous enhancement underscores our dedication to cultivating an environment thriving on collective learning.
Central Server Works
Central Server Works is a mixed media organization dedicated to exhibiting, creating, researching, and disseminating the work of contemporary artists.
Vernacular Institute
Vernacular is an evolving space for experimentation, transformed by each artist’s engagements. Projects that emphasise performative approaches and collaborative programming are framed by a curatorial narrative of how art responds to our present-day social-political concepts including labour, borders, feminism and resistance.
Vernacular is an independent, non-profit institute run by curator Jo Ying Peng. Formerly based in Taipei and now established in Mexico City, Vernåcular fosters bilateral dialogue between Latin America and Asian artists.
Jo Ying Peng is a Taiwanese independent curator currently based in Mexico City. Her practice ranges across curatorial, editorial, and cinematic boundaries to expand possibilities beyond linear narratives.
